Linked by ship from Piraeus, Thessaloniki and Kavala (shipping companies NEL lines, Hellenic Seaways), and by plane from Athens, Thessaloniki, Alexandroupolis, Kavala and Heraklion (airlines Olympic Air, Aegean Airlines, Sky Express). During the summer months there are direct flights (charters) from foreign cities.

The picturesque village of Anaxos is located northwest of the island, just 55 km from Mytilene. Here you can get either by the Intercity Bus or by car. As regards the Intercity Bus, select one of the routes Mantamados approaching the village, or choose to get Molyvos and then take a taxi or rent a car.
